Read mail sent to an address you create
Create ada@yourdomain.com on a domain you already verified. Pigeon encrypts the subject and the body, and you read the message in Incoming.
Open Incoming. Pick a verified domain and a name, such as ada. The address is ada@yourdomain.com. Pigeon accepts mail for that exact address. A name you have not created is refused.
What is stored
The subject, the HTML, the plain text, and who it is from are encrypted before they are written. The key is derived from the application secret, with its own salt. The account that owns the mailbox can open the message. Another account cannot.
Reading it
Incoming lists the address and the messages. Open one and the message is rendered. Scripts in the stored HTML do not run. Receiving this mail does not count toward the send quota.
Mail from the internet
- A message from the public internet arrives when the domain's MX points at the inbound host and that host accepts mail on port 25.
- A domain with no MX is delivered to the host in its address record.
- The hosted app accepts that mail on port 25.
- The submission port used to send mail does not accept public mail for these addresses.
